Robocalls
Every time I get a call from an unknown source, I do not say anything. The call normally ends in about 30 seconds. I get the impression that these machines are voice activated. It doesn't stop the calls but at least I don't have to listen to the recording.

Indeed, the machines listen for a short segment of voice followed by a pause. They then transfer the call to a live operator. The live operator will never have heard "Hi, This is Bill, how are you" or whatever it is you answer with.

Steven C, NO, they don't always transfer to a 'live operator;' sometimes, they transfer to a "robo-narrator" - which is even worse.

I have noticed a reduction in robocalls after I started doing this. I used to get 1 to 2 calls most every day. Now it's been a while since I received one.
